The dreidel is a 4-sided toy marked with Hebrew letters on each of its sides and is used like a spinning top in a game of chance played by kids during the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah.
The game involves spinning the dreidel and betting on which Hebrew letter will be showing when the dreidel stops spinning, bets usually consist of a pot of gelt (chocolate coins covered in gold colored tin foil), nuts, and candies.

ReplyDeleteOnly in Jerusalem do the Dreidels say "A great miracle happened here". Everywhere else the dreidels have the Hebrew letters.
