Star Wars: The Clone Wars Papercraft Model Kit
Posted by Ron | Friday, March 27, 2009 | 3 comments »This is the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Papercraft Model Kit
It's a hardcover book that includes three papercraft models, each with varying degrees of assembly difficulty. The Clone Trooper Helmet model is Padawan (easy) level, then you've got an R2-D2 model having a Jedi Knight (medium) level, and finally the AT-TE Walker model is a Jedi Master (hard) level.
The book has a magnetic lock on the side, a common thing that you'll often see in kids books.
All the models are pre-cut and makes use of those tab inserts, no glue and cutting necessary.
I couldn't find any ruler around when I was taking pics so I put my DS beside it for comparing the thickness and size.
For $12 bucks with free shipping, it's not bad for papercraft collectors and a great deal for Star Wars fans. This btw, is a gift - I didn't open the pattern because I want to buy a second one first (I always buy two copies), one to make/destroy and the other goes to my archive. I'll post pics of the finished models later on.

Byodoin Temple is one of the most beautiful and most visited places in Japan and considered as a Japanese National Treasure. Its rich beauty and history has garnered it a UNESCO World Heritage Site listing.

Byodoin is a Buddhist temple located in the city of Uji, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. It was built in 998 (yes, over a millennium ago), under the Heian period. This Byodo-in papercraft is focused on the most famous building in the temple, the Phoenix Hall or also known as Amida Hall. The Amida Hall was constructed to provide a place of eternal rest for Amida, the Buddha of Infinite Light and Life, and this hall still contains architectural works and Buddha statues made around 1000 years ago. The Amida Hall is now more commonly known as the Phoenix Hall, because the whole building resembles a bird with its wings spread, and also because of the phoenixes that adorn the roof of the main building.
You can also see the Byodoin Temple's image on the 10 yen coin and the 10,000 yen note as a sign of veneration.

In participation with Earth Hour 2009, Paper-Replika brings you this Earth Hour papercraft symbolized by a light switch and ballot box. This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming.
Earth Hour 2009 Papercraft
For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF are urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.
This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard. Earth Hour began in Sydney in 2007, when 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off their lights for one hour. In 2008 the message had grown into a global sustainability movement, with 50 million people switching off their lights. Global landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, Rome’s Colosseum, the Sydney Opera House and the Coca Cola billboard in Times Square all stood in darkness.
In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.
We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations.
VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour.

Located in what's known as "The Old Town", the Sebilj sits like a mushroom in the middle of Bašcaršija - the oldest part of Sarajevo. The Sebilj fountain stands on a seven-sided stone foundation with the rest of the structure comprised mainly of intricately carved wooden panels.
Hundreds of pigeons and tourists flock to the Sebilj on a daily basis, local merchants and townsfolk call out to the tourists to sell cups of corn so they can feed the pigeons for good luck. Because of this, visitors often refer to it as "the pigeon square".
Legend has it that if you drink the water from the Sebilj, you will not be able to leave Sarajevo for a long time - I wonder why? Me, I always stick to bottled water wherever I travel.

Here's a weird papercraft from Atelier Fare, the Takoyaki papercraft doll, a " takoyaki paper doll for fine weather" as the designer put it. What is it? let's break it down.
Takoyaki or Takoyaki balls refers to octopus dumplings that is a popular snack in Japan. It's comprised of octopus, tempura scraps, green onion, & pickled ginger - covered in batter and then either fried or baked (see vid below).
Now that you know what Takoyaki is, we go to the next one. Why is it shaped like a doll?
That part refers to Teru Teru Bozu (sunny monk), a traditional Japanese handmade paper or cloth doll with a string tied to its neck area and hanged on windows or porches to bring in sunny weather and ward off rain. The word "Teru" is a Japanese word that describes sunshine and "Bozu” is the name of a Buddhist monk.

Now that you know what those words mean I'm pretty sure you've put two and two together, so here you go, six different takoyaki papercrafts with various flavors themes ^_^
