The Temple of the Emerald Buddha and the adjoining Grand Palace form one of Thailand's most spectacular tourist attractions.
The Temple of the Emerald Buddha (aka Wat Phra Kaew, aka Wat Phra Sri Rattana Satsadaram) is the most important and sacred temple in Thailand and is located within the grounds of the Grand Palace - official residence of the Kings of Thailand.
The temple got its name for housing an Emerald Buddha figure, it's in a sitting position and is adorned with gold clothing. The figure is not really made out of emerald but instead is made of green jade.
