Located in Agra, India, the Taj Mahal (aka "the Taj") is one of the Eight Wonders of the World and is another UNESCO World Heritage site - universally admired masterpiece of the world's heritage.
There's a misconception about the Taj Mahal in popular culture, many think that its a palace, probably because there is another iconic structure in India called the "Taj Mahal Palace", but that one is a luxury hotel - the real Taj Mahal is a mausoleum (building housing a tomb).
The Taj is the most beautiful monument built by the Mughals - the Muslim rulers of India. It was built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the memory of his dear wife and queen Mumtaz Mahal. It's built entirely of white marble and took 22 years to complete. This Taj Mahal papercraft was designed by artist A&A.
