For 10 months of the year, every weekend, hundred's of thousands of racing fans nationwide gather to watch drivers maneuver their vividly colored, high-powered cars around oval shaped tracks - some watch it for the exciting checkered flag finish and others for the spectacular high-speed crashes.

It's been called "The Great American Race" and "The Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing", today (February 17, 2008) marks the 50th edition of NASCAR's most important and prestigious race, the Daytona 500.
